Get Your Red-Hot Yarn Porn Right Here, Baby!

30 May

WARNING: Picture-Heavy Post. Apologies to those on dial-up, but I promise, it’s worth the wait.

Look what I got for Mother’s day!

This came in the mail today. It is, from left to right, Cashmerino sock yarn, in ‘Camo’, 12ply (worsted) in ‘Violet Beauregarde’, and more Cashmerino sock yarn in ‘Moulin Rouge’.

The ‘Moulin Rouge’ is for my sock-pal. I have two or three patterns in mind, so if badness occurs, and I have to frog because of pooling or other disaster, I have a fall-back position (this represents personal growth for me – remember last week and the sideways sock thing?). I love this colourway so much, I bought a second skein for socks for me.

The 12-ply merino, in ‘Violet Beauregarde’ (I totally love that name!) is destined to be felted slippers for me. Violet is very soft and fuzzy, and I may have a very hard time convincing myself to put her through the washer, as I’ve never felted anything on purpose (there was one very embarrassing incident involving an allegedly superwash jumper). But I’m sure that the first frosty morning will stiffen my resolve. I really hate having cold feet.

The ‘Camo’ is also socks for me. I’m thinking this would be gorgeous in Reptilian Lace from Knitty, but I’m not locked into that (see? There’s that personal growth thing again!).
Can I get a big hand for the wonderful Morgan AKA The Knitting Ninja, who created these gorgeous goodies for me. She also took these photos for me, in the skein, and then she wound it into centre-pull balls for me. How’s that for service? Unfortunately, I can’t give you a link just yet, as Morgan is revamping her online store, and the site is down. I promise to give you link info as soon as the site goes live.

Want more pics? Happy to oblige.

And here’s the centre-pull balls.

So what’s next? Swatching! Woohoo!
