Technical Difficulties.

28 Feb

I have lately been subject to intermittent monitor spasms, and it’s really, really difficult to write a blog post (or do anything else on your computer, for that matter) with no monitor. The problem is not yet totally solved (read: I still need a new monitor), but the beast is working today, so I’m making hay while the sun shines, as it were (although it is actually bucketing down rain outside).

Was that rambly enough for ya? Good.

So, to catch you up on what’s been happening Chez Frog. On Saturday, I entered my Cashmerino Monkeys in the Blayney Show (the Pomatomi didn’t get done in time):

Before you start getting all excited and congratulatory, my socks were the ONLY ENTRY in their Class. Sharon has had a month-long meltdown at work, and didn’t get finished in time. So there sat my socks, all on their lonesome, with their Congratulations, You Are Officially Better Than NOBODY, You Big Tragic Dork First Prize card displayed for all to see. Sigh.

On the upside the boys had a glorious time, what with jumping castles, those creepy-looking laughing clowns, the petting zoo (Sasquatch fell madly in love with a fuzzy yellow duckling and was mortally offended that I wouldn’t let him bring it home), and the very noisy vintage farm machinery on display. And I got me a very nice sunburn.

So all in all, a successful day.

Tuesday marked the anniversary of me starting work on my longest-running WIP.

Yes, eight years ago I became a Mum. It’s had it’s ups and downs, but nobody’s dead yet, so I guess I must be doing something right. The Boyo in question is charming and funny and sweet and loving, and smart as a whip. He can be a little high-maintenance, but I have great hopes for him growing up a good, kind and lovely man, just like his Dad. Here’s how the project is shaping up:

Coming along nicely, don’t you think? (and yes, that is a crapload of yarn on the table behind him).

Wednesday, I finally finished the Pomatomus socks.

They are beautiful, comfortable, and fit perfectly. I call that a successful result. Also, I may have missed the deadline for the Show on Saturday, but I got in under the wire for the Sock Knitters Anonymous’ Sockdown: Ravelry January challenge. This is the closest I have ever gone to the two-month deadline. February’s challenge is just gonna have to go begging.

Today I am swatching for my next project, pics as soon as there is something to show.

That’s exactly how I feel about the Mom gig! Nobody’s dead yet. Plants, on the other hand, I kill those left and right. But as long as the CHILDREN are thriving, I think that’s so much more important.

I’m glad it didn’t rain buckets for the Blayney Show. Probably there were no other entries ’cause they all knew your rockin’ socks were on their way. 😉

Yep – noone’s dead – and I didn’t kill either of the kids (despite being tempted!)

    Well done on the prize!!!

Congrats on your ‘first’ in the Blayney Show. My socks won ‘first’ at the Armidale Show last week, under the same officially better than nobody circumstances.

Your Pomatomii are gorgeous – I’ve got the pattern on my TBK list. And your Boyo looks like a work of art and magic 🙂

The boy looks wonderful and is a very fine WIP! You’re a good mum, with a heart of gold. He’ll turn out to be a wonderful man, for sure.

Both pairs of socks look FAB, dahling. Totally to die for! Did you get a jeweled tiara with that big win???

Yes…I second what Becky said…was starting to wonder where you went. Computer problems…UGH! Having them here too.

Don’t care if you were the only entrant – a first is a first and those socks rock – well done! 😀

Looks like your doing a grand job on the WIP. Congrats.

Hey gorgeous! FABULOUS win on the monkeys!! I believe the appropriate term would be “in a class of their own”!!!! :>
Your son looks like a perfectly charming young man – you are obviously doing a great job ;>
And if I wasn’t wearing Roseleaves on my feet right now, I might be tempted to visit just to take a peek at your shoe size and accidentally take home some AWESOME socks!!!
Sorry to read of your technoprobs – luck and vibes to you!
