In order to avoid a December sock-knitting meltdown, I have started the Christmas knitting now (I am a notorious procrastinator, so this represents some significant personal growth). Unfortunately, as several of the giftees read the blog this will mean that for the next few months there will be a plethora of stealth-projects, which is less-than-thrilling from a blog-fodder perspective.

A couple of non-Christmas stealth projects have been finished, most notably the ones for Amy, who is busy building a person with a completion date in mid-October (although Baby Girl seems to be feeling a bit hasty). I was hoping to get her parcel off today, but it has been raining all week, so the _______ ______ that are blocking are still damp, and I need to pick up some buttons for the _____ _____, and a couple of _____ for the ____ (sorry – the stealth project Mad Lib thing makes me giggle, although I have no pretensions to the glorious lunacy of this one).

Anyhoo, in order to keep this from being officially designated the Dullest Post Ever, I will now attempt to beguile you with some gastro-porn:

a honey-cake I baked this afternoon to pack in lunch-boxes for the rest of the week (ha! It’ll be lucky to last past tomorrow!),

and a yoghurt & apple loaf (same purpose). Okay, so I’m never going to work as a food-stylist for Donna Hay magazine, but damn, they are tasty! See that buttered piece in the pic above? I just noshed it as I uploaded the photos.

I do love being back where I belong!

Ooh, those blanks are so intriguing! And that honey cake looks delicious. Pity it wouldn’t last the trip practically ’round the world. Baby Girl is holding steady at the moment. She has the hiccups. I have my fears she will have a dairy intolerance too, like her biggest brother. I just drank some milk, now she has the hiccups. I recognize the pattern. (SIGH! A whole YEAR I gave up dairy for Vaughan!!)

What am I looking at in your new header? And what a good idea to link to your wishes in the sidebar! You’ve been tinkering with the layout, I see. 🙂

I totally agree about the Christmas knitting and blogging – it’s a bummer having to keep quiet about it. The baking looks so yummy it’s making me hungry 😉

Yum! I think maybe it is breakfast time. My extended family has no idea that I have a blog so I don’t have to hide stuff. Can you post the secret stuff on Ravelry?

Great Minds!! Spring hols = start organising Xmas. sigh.
Blankety-blank post was funny, but the Big Question is WHERE do I find the recipes???
(made snickerdoodles on Sunday. They are evil. Pure butter/sugar/cinnamon evil I tell you)
hmm new template – what frog is that?

    Yum yum yum!

I think I might be forced to do some baking this afternoon – chocolate chip and rolled oat cookies and currant loaf! Glad to see you back – I missed you!
