The knitting continues…

… even while my brain is being bent by overly-clever preschoolers.

The Gust scarf is growing nicely, at a rate of three or four pattern repeats a day (sometimes more, but thus far no less). The pattern calls for 32 repeats, but I think I’m going to just keep knitting ’til I run out of yarn. If my calculations are correct, that should get me about 1.3m (almost 4.5 feet) of unblocked lacy loveliness (I have no idea what size it will block out to, but it should be impressive, don’t you think?). I am totally asking Santa for blocking wires. Big love. Huge. Brobdingnagian!

The stealth knitting proceeds apace, though of course I can’t show you anything just yet.

But my Firestarters (Rav-link) have stalled. For some reason, I’m just not feeling the love here. I don’t know if the problem is the pattern or the yarn (it’s kinda stripier than I had hoped) or the two combined, but somehow it’s just not doing it for me. I will say that I’m less than thrilled with Yarnissima’s charts. I found them to be very confusing, and had the devil’s own time working from them until I sat down with graph paper and pencil and reworked them with symbols I’m used to. There is also the possibility that I am spoiled by working from Cookie A., Anne Hanson and Nancy Bush patterns. The ladies do know their stuff. And perhaps I jumped ahead without reading through the pattern as thoroughly as I should have, because it wasn’t until after I’d worked the heel in stocking stitch that I realised I was supposed to do a slip-stitch pattern. So the Firestarters are in time-out for a while, and I will move on to some Christmas knitting instead (you know, the stuff with the looming deadline?).
