It’s here! It’s here!

Even before we moved it over here and bent the freezer door, we knew that sooner or later the old fridge would have to be replaced, because it was too big to fit in the kitchen here at the new house. So for the last month, every time I walked into the laundry, there was the huge old 480 litre Kelvinator, taking up literally half the room. It was really starting to bug me, especially the fact that the freezer I had never needed to defrost in over five years of ownership, suddenly looked like the view from Mawson station. Sigh.

Delivered yesterday, one shiny new Samsung 322 litre upside-down fridge.

I nearly had a heart attack when the delivery guys wheeled the thing in – even though I had measured the fridge-space and took my trusty little Ashford tape-measure key-ring with me when we bought it, I swear to god that when it was standing in my kitchen, it was a good two centimetres too tall to fit under the cupboard. Right up until they actually slid it into place. Then it pulled some kind of science-fictionesque space-time-continuum stunt and fit perfectly.

And because Tech Support can’t possibly go to a discount store without at least trying to make the salesman cry, we also now have a slender, elegant 180 litre upright freezer where the old fridge has been looming for the last month.

All for the cash we had budgeted for the fridge alone (dude didn’t actually cry, but I’m pretty sure he whimpered a bit). So, it feels like we got the freezer for free! Yay! For those of you who visited our eBay store and bid on, or even bought stuff, many, many thanks.
