There’s never a TARDIS when you need one.

26 Jun

Today is going to be one of those days where I need to break the laws of time and space just to get everything done.

  • In 15 minutes, I have to be at the school for Boyo’s end-of-term assembly, which goes from 9.45am ’til Your-Guess-Is-As-Good-As-Mine (it’s not yet the end of term, but next Friday is the Athletics carnival, and the following Friday is the alternate date for the Athletics carnival, because the first attempt is traditionally rained out).
  • At 12.45pm I have to be in the library, knitting with the kids until 1.30pm
  • Immediately I am done there, I have to drive 30 mins into Orange, drop off the last couple of hard-copy assessment items at TAFE, buy a birthday pressie for Tech Support, and drive 30 mins back to Blayney to pick up the boys at 3.00pm
  • Once I get the boys home I have to bake a birthday cake and organise a birthday dinner (rash promises were made about roast pork).
  • I still have to finish knitting his birthday socks.
  • Not going to happen (hence the bought pressie).
  • Somewhere in there I was hoping to get to the gym for a workout (see above re: cake and roast pork).
  • Also not gonna happen.

So I’d better get amongst it.

How’s your day shaping up?

We have rain, light winds, loads of washing to do, son is on the mend having spent the whole week home sick with the viral cough bug that’s going through school, #2 daughter is alternately singing and requesting assistance of the tissue-to-nose kind, as she has a coldy thing plus middle-ear infection, and will shortly have to be convinced to have more medicine and go to bed – which may be tricky, as the vegemite toast and medicine breakky have made her feel so much better…
There have been bikkies and chocolate and even some red wine this week, and a grand total of (I think) one walk. Didn’t even make it to yoga. Much sitting around mothering children. Good for the soul but not the hips.
It is just that time of year. The Fates conspire, the germs go forth and multiply, the weather mocks my desire for sheets that smell like sunshine.
Apart from that, everything is lovely!
Happy Birthday to the Tech Support – mine is making noises about his socks too….

Lets chip in and buy a TARDIS together!

MMM roast pork (and it just has to have crackling…) – but steam the vegies…..

I just need a tardis for the space to string an indoor washing line…

PS ‘rain’ means ‘deluges of biblical proportions’, the man’s socks haven’t gotten further than the first heel in 6 months, but I have more chocolate in the cupboard, a great reason to pop into Spotties today/tomorrow (need 1 ball black for bro’s Knuck#2), and I’ve had three days off work. It’s not all bad :>

New washing machine delivered this morning (I’m in love!), one load done, kitchen half clean, baby won’t nap. School pickup 1hr earlier than usual as it’s last day of term. Husband left for Israel on Monday for work and won’t be back for another 8 days. Sister arriving with husband and 4 kids for a three day stay at about 5pm, it’s now 1.40pm. Still have to clean the bathroom, toilet, do another load of washing, buy the roast for dinner and some more veges, finish the kitchen, find the two camp beds, convince the baby to sleep, ummmmm maybe it’s just the time machine bit of the tardis I need!!!

Hope your day works out for you and that dinner is appreciated!

    Have a good weekend.

Friday? Sunshine [woo-hoo]. Yesterday’s washing on the line again. Another load [flannelette sheets]. Just as well there are only two of us now.

Computer time, sat in the sun writing a long snail-mail letter as a 50th birthday present, watched “Spicks and Specks” [ABC 1.30], showered, watched a documentary on SBS called “Searching for Bony” while knitting, talked to WM about family issues, grocery shopping, put away shopping, watched “Grand Designs” [taped on Tuesday], ate dinner, watched “Can We Help?”, “Scrapheap Challenge”, “Songs of Praise”, Collectors” during which I completely fdrogged my knitting back to the neckline! And then, while WM watched the second half of the NRL game [he’s a Saints supporter] I watched “Who Do You Think You are?” which was taped while watching other programs. Lots of knitting.

Can you tell I didn’t have to work yesterday and my time’s my own? Yippee! Perhaps it also shows that we are empty-nesters so we have more time than most to indulge ourselves in favourite viewing!

PS Happy Birthday to Tech Support.
