Thursday Weigh-in #15, Plus Assorted Stuff.

13 Aug
  • Weight: 77.8 kg
  • BMI: 27
  • Loss this week: 900g
  • Total loss so far: 10.2 kg
  • Well, I’m more-or-less back where I was two weeks ago. I counted up on the calendar, and I have nine weeks to lose eight kilos. I need to lift my game: I’ve been working off 20 points per day, but I think it’s time to drop that to 18. And I need to get a bit more serious about my gym work – I need some tone, especially about the abs. I’m more and more certain that nothing short of a tummy-tuck is going to get me into anything approaching bikini shape (not that I was ever much of a bikini wearer even back in the day – no boobs), but still, I’m pretty sure that a daily regimen of ab-work would at least tighten things up a little bit.

I owe you all an apology, too – I’ve been a bad, bad blogger this week. I’ve barely even read anybody’s blogs. This is partly because I’ve been visiting some old friends in far-away places, partly because of TAFE-work, but mostly I’ve been frantically busy with the cookbook thing. It turns out that when you get railroaded volunteer to do a thing, you then actually have to do work to get said thing done! Who knew? Anyway, I have been typing up recipes, and copy/pasting others from emails, and faffing about with formatting and stuff, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda. There’s still more recipes coming in almost every day, both emailed and hand-written, so the work ain’t over yet.

Boyo has the flu (no not that flu, just a bog-standard type that is making him cough and sniffle), and thus has been home all week (Sasquatch is deeply miffed: why does he have to go to school when Boyo can stay home and hack up a lung watch telly all day?). I seriously doubt he will be well enough for school tomorrow, either. This is a real pity, because several of the kids have had that a-HA! moment with their knitting, and they are actually getting something that looks like garter stitch! I don’t know who was more excited – them or me!

Finally, I finished re-knitting the sleeve, and have started seaming my Fireside cardi. Look out for a FO post soonish.

Brilliant effort – don’t go to silly reducing the points though – if your body thinks it is being starved it will hang on to everything with all its might and main!

Sadness over the sick ones – hope they are all better soon!

Don’t worry – I’ll be sensible. I’m looking for long-haul weight-loss here, not to start myself on a yo-yo cycle to morbid obesity (and ending up one of those creepy news stories about the dead person so fat they had to demolish the house to get the body out). If I start to feel hungry all the time, I’ll bump my points back up to 20 and add a few extra minutes a day on the exercycle.

I chose to blog about this as an extra spur to keep myself on track. I’d hate to miss the mark just because I got bored and went on a carb-splurge.

yay, well done this week 🙂

maybe keep to your 20pts on workout days and drop to 18pts on rest days? or start with 2 days a week on lesser points to give you a kick-start?
you don’t want to slow your metabolism by dropping too low too soon, especially during the last stages – they’re always the hardest anyway!!

good work! I thought of you when I weighed in last night – I’m 1kg down this week thanks to being sick and not eating much.

I can see that at times going down to 18 points to give your body a shot of a reminder – I plan to do that later, but not to live on it for long. So anyway I’m 3.5kg down in two weeks – hope I can keep it up as well as you!

Congrats on getting it back under control, that can be difficult. Don’t know how the points thing works so not adding my thoughts to that one. Can add mine to the cardy though….show me the cardi!!!! Hang in there with poor sick Boyo, we are almost at the end of the “sick zone” as it has been dubbed in our house, Spring is round the corner, I’m pretty sure I can smell it!
