The Polka-dot Kid.

5 Mar

Boyo left for his camping trip on Thursday morning. I waved him goodbye, and then went home to worry for 3o-ish hours till he got home. Which he did, safe, sound, and very very grubby, yesterday afternoon. He had a great time bushwalking, eating toasted marshmallows around the campfire, sharing a tent with his two best friends (and, not coincidentally, getting very little sleep), catching a water-bug during their wildlife study 0f the creek, and getting bitten by thirty-two bazillion mosquitoes.

What more could any eleven-year-old boy ask of his first camping adventure?

P.S. He has been singing “Greased Lightning” almost non-stop since he got home (if you click that link, you will be stuck with the brainworm. Consider yourself warned). At the moment, he only knows the first verse. He has asked to Google the lyrics, but I think not. I have no desire to explain what a “pussy wagon” is.

Hurray!! Glad he had a wonderful time and came home unscathed. You are lucky he didn’t have a pocket bulging with ‘scats’ like one boy I know. He was so excited and had apparently missed the part of the ranger’s talk where it was explained exactly what scats are!!!

Oh, ick! Yes, I will cheerfully acknowledge my luck that he didn’t bring any of those home!

And there you go, just keep reading through all those tabs you’ve had open for the last couple of weeks and all of a sudden the answer to “how was camp?” is already there!!
Glad he had a good time and came home unscathed, glad you survived as well!
